This was somewhere nearby Colombo, the uproarious capital of Sri Lanka. If you want to escape from what is happening in the overwhelming swarm of the capital city, take a ride along the beaches. The railway trails run along the coast down to Galle and Matara, which must be so spectacular. I only got a short ride till the next beautiful beach in the direction south from Colombo, the name of which I forgot, but if you recognize the place from the pictures below, lemme know 😛  A return ticket will cost you so cheap, phaaaa, it’s not even the 10th part from the cost of a tuk-tuk ride, which is already super cheap.

    

Negombo Beach is in the other way, north from Colombo. Buses run in that direction from the Airport Road with a change in Bopitiya. The beach is beautifuuuul: huge waves washing off the shores, kids catching crabs with bare hands, people chilling at dusk, football is there, somebody trying to sell you something, it’s a never-ending sight!

    

Sri Lanka is a paradise! I wish …. you name it: pineapples, bananas, mangoes, papaya, watermelon, rambutans, jack fruits, passion fruits, avocados, mangoosteenes, soursops, coconuts, starfruits, dragonfruits, and many many more! Cocktails? No problem, madame! A banana in Sri Lanka will taste thousand of times better than the one transported away from here! It’s the same banana, but it’s actually NOT, at the same time.

       

Waters around Colombo are not that turquoise, you will probably need to travel a bit south or on the other side of the island to get those, but not anywhere near the capital. The waves are huge though! Massive! Wild! Roaring!

      

      

I loved the breeze in the tuk-tuk. Must do it, man, it’s a must do before you melt down completely! Yeah, the drivers won’t let you pass and walk further, so just jump into one of those 3-wheeled and let them take you around! ….. Won’t let you pass, they are everywhere, just take one and enjoy your day from the beginning 😛

Negombo Lagoon is harboring dozens of traditional ships. There is a big fish market as well. Still feels like in Colombo, but the beach is much wider and more chilled.

I have visited Sri Lanka a couple of times very shortly. I must say that I’m in love with their spicy food, coconut bread and leather products. And those giant Singaporean crabs, oh yes, they are from Sri Lanka too!
