Yosemite National Park is about 3,5 hrs drive from San Francisco … add one more hrs if coming from Los Angeles. The drive is spectacular. It is a great escape for a weekend break. Depending on the time of the year, you can see many waterfalls in Yosemite. You can also trek till you drop.

In Yosemite you can see a few giant sequoia trees at Mariposa Grove near Wawona. Actually we have driven all the way just to see THEM.

There are many turnouts with splendid views in Yosemite. The Tunnel View gives one of the most famous views of Yosemite Valley. From here you can see El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall rising from Yosemite Valley, with the Half Dome in the background. This viewpoint is at the east end of the Wawona Tunnel, along the Wawona Road (Highway 41).

Such an  Ice Age scene, isn’t it?

Absolutely breathtaking, you wanna hug them and ask them the story of the world!

    

The giant sequoia are the tallest trees in the world and one of the oldest as well. There are not so many of them left, unfortunately.

Imagine one growing next to each of those skyscraper :).

      

      

The tallest one is called General Sherman which is about 83 m tall and can be seen in the Giant Forest of the Sequoia National Park in California (it’s not this one in the photo, it is muuuuuch taller).
