Let’s walk a bit around the lake with calm peaceful waters in the Jordan Rift Valley – the cradle of Christianity. The Sea of Galilee has many names, among which lake Kinneret, lake of Gennesaret, Sea of Ginosar, Sea of Minya and lake Tiberias. It is situated at 215 – 209 metres below sea level, being the lowest freshwater lake on Earth. River Jordan flows through it north to south.

     

The Gospel trail around the sea of Galilee will take you to Tabgha, to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Twelve Apostles near Capernaum and other places.
